  • Lovely B&B, excellent location!

I’m still thinking about our stay at The Fairview. This B&B has the grounds and charm of a Southern, colonial-style property. But the rooms have been updated and are beautiful, clean and modern. The bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on too!

The B&B is situated near South Congress, which is just South of the river and a lively thoroughfare filled with restaurants, shopping and food trucks (and some of the best food trucks I’ve ever had). An ideal location!

As for the couple that runs the B&B, they couldn’t be more gracious and kind. Breakfast was adorable – homemade pastries, granola and yogurt. And they have a 24 hour coffee room with delicious coffee. We even came back one night to chocolate truffles on our bedside table!

It was the best stay – I couldn’t recommend it more! And I definitely can’t wait to go back!

We stayed here shortly after they opened in the room with the screened in balcony seen from the front. It was wonderful to wake up and have a leisurely cup of coffee on the balcony as well as a romantic nightcap. The building and grounds were beautiful. It is tucked away in a neighborhood so quiet, but only a short cab ride to everything downtown. The owners were very nice and live on the grounds in a separate house. The breakfasts they provided each morning were very nice – consisting of hearty healthy food like homemade yogurt, fresh fruit and breads to go with a main course. I would highly recommend this B&B for any occasions you might have and look forward to coming back!

    Perfect Wedding Venue!

We celebrated a wedding here with a brunch for about 50 people. Everything was perfect! We booked the entire B&B and the bride and groom even stayed with the family. The owners were very helpful and accommodating and our families raved about the comfort, the food and the service. The bride got ready in the largest room and it was perfect for all of us to gather before the ceremony. The grounds are amazing and there is even space to play croquet which the kids loved. I highly recommend The Fairview!

  • Beautiful B&B, great location

We stayed in the Fairview’s Blue Bonnet room for four nights in November. The room was gorgeous – spacious and full of Texan character. Hosts Jimi and Vivian were super-friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great (hello homemade French toast casserole), and the building itself was a beautiful renovated plantation-style house. It’s a safe 10 minutes walk to all the fun, shops, bars, music and tacos on South Congress. We’d 100% stay again if we returned to Austin – it’s a quintessentially Austin place to stay; unlike a lot of the chains around the ‘Dirty Sixth’.

  • Fantastic for families!

We had such a wonderful time staying at the Fairview! It was my husband, myself, and our 18-month old son. He is very rambunctious, so we were overjoyed to see that they have a nice playground and lots of yard to run around in. The owners are very nice and accommodating. I accidentally booked our room for the wrong week, but I didn’t realize it until almost 9:30 at night. I called an left a message for them to call me back. I definitely didn’t expect him to call me back immediately and have it fixed before I even talked to him! Breakfast was delicious and the location is so close to SoCo. Overall a wonderful experience! Will definitely be back :)

Stately home with down home charm

We had a wonderful stay at The Fairview. My husband and I brought our two boys, 8 and 5, and stayed in the very spacious Live Oak Suite. The kids each had their own twin bed in the attached library and we slept in the *very comfortable* king bed. The bathroom was huge and newly renovated, with lovely appointments. We also had an attached yoga room that we used every morning for some stretching and light calisthenics with the boys. OK, we may also have shut the kids in there to play video games. There is also a playscape in the garden behind the house, so the boys had an outdoor place to play.

The breakfast featured homemade granola and yogurt with a fresh fruit salad every day. My boys (even the grown up one) were crazy for the candied ginger scones and asked for them to be repeated. The French toast casserole was also a big hit. Viv contacted me ahead of our stay to discuss my 8-year-old’s food allergies and served us a delicious menu that was peanut, tree nut and shellfish free and put my worried son at ease.

I was partial to the fabulous espresso machine and the nightly happy hour featuring local wines in front of the fireplace and great conversation with Jimi and Viv. You could not ask for more gracious hosts. They went out of their way to make sure all our needs were accommodated, gave us great advice on where to eat and Jimi even helped us carry our suitcases up the stairs!

The Fairview is right off South Congress in a great neighborhood, so it’s close to all the hotspots and easily accessible. It’s also only about 20 minutes from the airport. Such a great combination of classy, high end hotel and down home, charming B&B cannot be beat. We will be staying here again the next time we are in Austin.
